Photo Blogging Challenge: Friends and Family

Thursday, April 30, 2015

This is my fourth month taking part in the Photo Blogging Challenge and 'Friends & Family' is my favourite theme so far! I moved to England 5 years ago, I was 21 and left my family and friends in Estonia. It has been the hardest thing in my life but I also met so many interesting people, made new friends and found the love of my life!

Tristan and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary this month. For the past 2 years he has been taking me out to fancy restaurants but we decided to do something different this year and have a quiet night in. We cooked Chicken Katsu Curry for dinner and just enjoyed each others company.

This is happy us.

We had a day out in Manchester and I tried to take a 'walking-selfie' but my friend Marianne photobombed it. It was funny, though!

Tristan has been spoiling me every Sunday with American-style pancakes. It has became our tradition.

I am very close to my mum and dad. Even though my family live back in Estonia, we see each other every weekend over Skype and sometimes end up talking for hours. They recently sent me a package - loads of Estonian sweets, chocolate and a heated blanket! They know me so well. I hate the cold, the temperature has dropped a lot recently and this blanket has come in handy!

I am looking forward to seeing everyone elses pictures. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the theme this month as much as I did!

  1. What a lovely post. Two years ago I only moved just 1 hour away from home, but I am actually finding it really hard being on my own all the time. I am so glad you have had a positive experience.

    P.s. I love your coat!!

  6. I have never seen pancakes that look like THAT and I've been in Amaerica all my life... So now I want to live where you live so I can get some of those American style pancakes.... Yum! The photo bomb is awesome... They can turn out so funny!

  8. Thanks for sharing a bit about your move and settling into a new home along with some great photographs. Congratulations on your anniversary. While I don't live in America, I live in North America and like some of the other folks who've commented I've never seen pancakes like the ones you photographed. Do you have a recipe to share with us?

  9. I'm glad that you're experiencing new kinds of happiness in the 5 years you've been away from your home! I imagine it can be a very scary time, but it seems that it can also be a very rewarding and self-growing time.

Great photos for the theme! The food looks delicious, and you and your man look like you both are having lots of fun together. :)

And never underestimate the beauty in the simplicity of enjoying a nice home-cooked meal together with the one(s) you love. Sometimes the fanciness of going out defeats the purpose of the celebration: enjoying and reflecting back on the memories you've had together so far, and what great fun lies ahead! :D

  10. Wonderful photos! And isn't technology amazing that allows us to stay connected over such long distances?! Sometimes the best anniversaries are the ones spent at home with no pressure or outside distractions. I wish you all the best in the future.

  11. I think my comment didn't post. I might like your American-style pancakes better than American pancakes and I like those a lot! Lovely photos. I like the creeper in the photobomb! Happy Anniversary!
